In addition to the social and individual burden, the economic burden of tinnitus is also high. The health care costs for each affected patient are estimated to be between 500 and 1500 € per year. Due to the great heterogeneity of symptoms, an interdisciplinary approach and an individualized treatment plan are crucial for successful tinnitus management. Across Europe, representatives from various disciplines (ENT, audiology, psychoacoustics, psychology/psychiatry, neurology, and general medicine, …) are working to provide highly personalized, up-to-date diagnostic and management procedures and are collaborating on various research projects to investigate the pathophysiology of tinnitus and to improve current diagnostic and management procedures. The “Interprofessional Training for Tinnitus Researchers and Clinicians” (Tin-TRAC) project aims to create digital resources that will be available to a wide audience of people from different health professions and reseachers to integrate the assessment and management of tinnitus in clinical and scientific practice in the EU. Tin-TRAC will create 6 Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) and an e-learning platform to train healthcare professionals, clinicians, and researchers in globally recognized guidelines for tinnitus assessment, treatment, and research. Tin-TRAC's long-term goals are to integrate tinnitus assessment and management into clinical and scientific practice across the EU. Tin-TRAC's audiovisual resources aim to be understood by patients and professionals from different backgrounds, to take advantage of recent (neuro-)scientific advances in the field, and to provide tinnitus expertise through webinars, workshops, scientific exchange, and innovative learning objectives. The primary outcome of Tin-TRAC will be electronic resources for training future researchers and clinicians in the interdisciplinary field of tinnitus. As the first interim goal of Tin-TRAC, the needs analysis provides an important contribution to achieving this goal, as the results of the needs analysis will help determine the content direction of the open online resources. These resources will be able to be used by other health practice education programs and will be available online to support the acquisition and development of professional skills and key competencies in a variety of European settings. In the long term, Tin-TRAC will thereby improve the education of tinnitus researchers and clinicians, thereby improving the quality of treatment for those affected.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-period field-type-datetime field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><span class="date-display-range"><span class="date-display-start" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2022-02-25T00:00:00+02:00">25/02/22</span> to <span class="date-display-end" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2025-02-24T00:00:00+02:00">24/02/25</span></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-url field-type-url field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="https://tin-trac.eu/">https://tin-trac.eu/</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-full-title field-type-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Interprofessional Training for Tinnitus Researchers and Clinicians</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-budget field-type-number-integer field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">271.123</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-auth-budget field-type-number-integer field-label-above"><div class="field-label">AUTH Budget:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">45875</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-funder field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Funder:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/funders/erasmus" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Erasmus+</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-project-type field-type-list-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Project Type:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Partner</div></div></div> Mon, 06 Jun 2022 06:36:50 +0000 Anastasia Gkartzoni 942 at https://medphys.med.auth.gr CLUEDUP https://medphys.med.auth.gr/project/cluedup <div class="field field-name-field-gallery-images field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="https://medphys.med.auth.gr/sites/default/files/Cluedup_final_72dpi-01.png" width="772" height="175" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Medical and Healthcare education has relied heavily upon training for practice in the transitional period between science training on campus, and apprenticeship in clinical practice. Students learn to practice safely, before being exposed to the patient: they learn to apply their knowledge: learning reasoning, decision-making, interprofessional skills and patient management</p> <p>HI fidelity simulation suites would be ideal training devices but are costly. Collaborative learning such as problem-based (PBL), case-based (CBL), and team-based learning (TBL) has become more common practice. These activities use scenarios and inexpensive technologies to provide interactivity and realism. The most recent and popular of such learning activities is TBL, a high-quality, learner-centered experience, with independent learning, teamwork skills, and feedback through assessment. It is economically viable, with multiple teams in a single room facilitated by a teacher.</p> <p>Much of this teaching relied heavily on Face-to-Face contact, which is not possible now. With TBL, it is impractical with the technology available, to run large numbers of individuals and teams online with one facilitator. Clinical skills training has often been replaced by simple online learning, such as recorded lectures and videos. These resources lack pedagogical richness and learners and staff report ‘digital meeting burnout’. Pedagogically it is a backward step in student engagement and learning.</p> <p>Nevertheless, the crisis provided an opportunity to introduce more game-oriented exercises which match the changing expectations of generation Z students, who are more motivated by innovative education styles such as decision-based learning. Game-based approaches could even improve on pre-COVID-19 education, that was often locked into traditional hierarchies and group dynamics. Recent evaluation has established the value of a Medical Escape Room, using game-based training to enhance engagement, and to create experiential learning opportunities which mimic the challenges faced by professionals in practice.</p> <p>Following its needs analysis,<strong> the CLUEDUP project proposes to create an innovative online TBL also containing Escape Room elements, to form a Combined Learning Activity (CLA). This CLA, benchmarked against TBL requirements, will be a template which is adaptable to all commonly-used collaborative learning strategies, such as PBL, CBL, and Flipped Classroom.</strong></p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-period field-type-datetime field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><span class="date-display-range"><span class="date-display-start" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2021-06-01T00:00:00+03:00">01/06/21</span> to <span class="date-display-end" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2023-05-31T00:00:00+03:00">31/05/23</span></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-url field-type-url field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="http://cluedup.eu/">CLUEDUP</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-full-title field-type-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Collaborative Learning Using Escape Designs and Pedagogies</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-budget field-type-number-integer field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">288.421</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-auth-budget field-type-number-integer field-label-above"><div class="field-label">AUTH Budget:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">112577</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-funder field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Funder:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/funders/erasmus" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Erasmus+</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-project-type field-type-list-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Project Type:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Leader</div></div></div> Fri, 02 Jul 2021 14:05:18 +0000 Despoina Mantziari 904 at https://medphys.med.auth.gr CP AGEING https://medphys.med.auth.gr/project/cp-ageing <div class="field field-name-field-gallery-images field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="https://medphys.med.auth.gr/sites/default/files/CP-AGEING_B-Logo-Color-1-2048x354.png" width="2048" height="354" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a motor disorder accompanied by sensory, communication, behavioural, cognitive and perceptual disturbances, affecting movement and posture in 2,5 per 1.000 births in EU (≈1.000.000 persons). The novelty in this project is to turn the experimental set-ups into ready to use (or ready to adapt packages) that can be used in different contexts. ESCAPE4HEALTH aims at creating scenarios for multi-professional, experiential training and education in healthcare; scenarios will also elaborate on themes related to pandemic. Escape rooms exploiting these scenarios are installed and set up in consortium institutions. Scenarios are also created in virtual/mixed/augmented reality environments allowing remote/distance training, thereby enabling mitigation of training in cases of pandemics. ESCAPE4HEALTH explores the potential role of Escape Rooms in healthcare curricula and provides curricula enrichments and innovations to multi-professional education.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-period field-type-datetime field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><span class="date-display-range"><span class="date-display-start" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2020-11-01T00:00:00+02:00">01/11/20</span> to <span class="date-display-end" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2023-08-31T00:00:00+03:00">31/08/23</span></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-full-title field-type-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Escape Room Enhanced Multi-professional Healthcare Training and Education</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-budget field-type-number-integer field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">275.945</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-auth-budget field-type-number-integer field-label-above"><div class="field-label">AUTH Budget:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">58715</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-funder field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Funder:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/funders/erasmus" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Erasmus+</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-project-type field-type-list-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Project Type:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Partner</div></div></div> Wed, 03 Mar 2021 15:37:58 +0000 Despoina Mantziari 890 at https://medphys.med.auth.gr ReHIn https://medphys.med.auth.gr/project/rehin <div class="field field-name-field-gallery-images field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="https://medphys.med.auth.gr/sites/default/files/unnamed.png" width="230" height="183" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>ReHIn aims to create web-based educational resources to raise awareness and enable integration of refugees into the EU health culture and system.<br /> Within this project we aim to create a number of creative digital resources to enable the integration of refugees into the European Union health culture. Through Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) and their combination into a MOOC, “ReHIn” will foster respect and understanding for diversity in Health, intercultural and civic competences, but also it will enable health values and citizenship within the EU.<br /> The project is a collaborative action research project between Karolinska Institutet (Sweden), University of Nottingham (UK), Aristotele University Thessaloniki (Greece) and Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain).<br /> The research project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and coordinated by MINT - Medical INTeractions at Karolinska Institutet, Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME)</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-period field-type-datetime field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><span class="date-display-range"><span class="date-display-start" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2019-08-30T00:00:00+03:00">30/08/19</span> to <span class="date-display-end" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2022-12-31T00:00:00+02:00">31/12/22</span></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-url field-type-url field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="https://ki.se/en/lime/rehin-a-research-project-on-refugees-health-integration">ReHIn</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-full-title field-type-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">ReHIn - a research project on Refugees&#039; Health Integration</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-funder field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Funder:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/funders/erasmus" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Erasmus+</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-project-type field-type-list-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Project Type:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Partner</div></div></div> Wed, 22 Apr 2020 10:53:59 +0000 Charalampos Tsipizidis 827 at https://medphys.med.auth.gr ADHD Care https://medphys.med.auth.gr/project/adhd-care <div class="field field-name-field-gallery-images field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="https://medphys.med.auth.gr/sites/default/files/ADHD-CARE_logo.jpg" width="5333" height="3333" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is common in children, adolescents and persists into adulthood. Despite this,<br /> access to adult ADHD services is often poor, resulting in frequent gaps in care during transition. Several barriers to successful<br /> transition can be identified.
