On Friday, 8th of April 2022, we had the pleasure to participate in the webinar: ‘’Social innovation for Healthy Ageing and Mental disorders’’, organized by the Neurological Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the SI4CARE-ADRION project scope. In the framework of this seminar Prof. Panagiotis Bamidis, Director of the Medical Physics and Digital Innovation Lab and Research Associates Despoina Mantziari and Despoina Petsani, presented PROLONG project and its role as a new innovative technology that can support Active and Healthy ageing.

PROLONG’S goal is to design and manufacture a prototype of a device as a tiny wearable GNSS-IoT tracker to be strapped at the user’s shoulders, responding to the need of detecting abnormal or dangerous walking patterns of older adults.
Throughout the project life cycle, the PROLONG team applies agile methodologies for designing field studies and conducting tests together with target users in so-called co-design processes. By extracting user requirements to create an innovative and user-oriented PROLONG device we will fill the gap between the rapidly growing demand for Active and Healthy Ageing products and services.
