A new faculty member has recently joined the staff of the Medical Physics Laboratory. Last September, Dr. Emmanouil Papanastasiou has been elected as an Assistant Professor of Medical Physics of the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and on May 2nd 2018 he assumed his position.

Ass. Prof. Papanastasiou has been working as a clinical medical physicist at the AHEPA University Hospital since 1997, serving as a radiation protection specialist at the Nuclear Medicine and Radiology Departments. During these 20 years he has trained more than 35 younger medical physicists. Apart from his clinical duties, his main research interests included radiation protection and dosimetry in radiology and interventional cardiology, image quality in nuclear medicine and computed tomography and quality control in nuclear medicine and radiology.

The Director of Medical Physics Laboratory, Assoc. Professor Anastasios Siountas, Assoc. Professor Panagiotis Bamidis and all the research and administrative staff members, express their warmest congratulations to Ass. Professor Emmanouil Papanastasiou, wishing him every success in his new career and hoping that he will help the Laboratory continue its successful academic and research presence in the coming years.
