Dr. Charalampos Bratsas has extensive experience in Semantic Web with a focus on Biomedical Ontologies and Linked Open Data. During his PhD studies, he worked on Knowledge Management and Semantic Representation of Medical Computational Problems. He has been involved in 10 EU research projects.
He is currently a faculty member of the Master in Web Science with the Mathematical Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He leads the R&D efforts of the Greek Linked Open Data which is currently part of the overall global 2011 LOD cloud with the following datasets:
Greek DBpedia, Hellenic Police, Hellenic Fire Brigade, and soon Diavgeia, and kallikratis.
His main areas of interest are:
Data Mining and algorithms,
Semantic Web,
Social Semantic Web,
Internationalization of Linked Data (coordinator of Greek DBPedia),
Applications of Artificial Intelligence,
Neuroinformatics, as well as, Linked Education.
