The group’s goal is the development of novel algorithms and mathematical tools for the advanced processing of medical and biological images that assist clinicians in diagnosis and treatment planning. The main topics of interest are image reconstruction, multi-modal imaging, image analysis and visualization.

Medical imaging encompasses different imaging modalities and processes to image the human body for diagnostic and treatment purposes and therefore plays an important role in initiatives to improve public health for all population groups. Each type of technology gives different information about the area of the body being studied or treated, related to possible disease, injury, or the effectiveness of medical treatment. Thus, medical imaging is frequently justified in the follow-up of a disease already diagnosed and/or treated.

Imaging modalities

Ultrasound Imaging

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

Medical X-ray Imaging:

Radiography

Computed Tomography (CT)

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 15:34:07 +0000 Theodore Savvidis 388 at http://medphys.med.auth.gr
