The invited speaker, Anastasios Bezerianos, presented a comprehensive application of neurometrics for accurately assess mental workload and fatigue, by means of a 64ch EEG and Oculus Rift VR. The task used was a virtual reality flight simulator, a virtual reality driving simulator and a vigilance enchancement, with increments of difficulty. A useful by-product of the development of the method was a real time brain connectivity assessment and projection on screen. Future works include the assessment of soldiers’ mental fitness, tailored training programs and robotics and unmanned technologies.
The discussion that followed this excellent presentation focused on the psychological aspects of mental workload and fatigue and the universality of mental fatigue biomarker.
