Measurements of the Electromagnetic Radiation
Medical Physicists come at place where to be the measurements and record the sources of electromagnetic radiation in the environment. Then, they give a detailed representation of the levels of electromagnetic radiation and compared them with the safe exposure limits to the public, as defined by law .
More specifically, these measurements are from:
•Electric fields from the electrical circuit of the house, from cables or transformers
•Electromagnetic radiation from antennas mobile, radio and television transmitters
The first Laboratory of Medical Physics of Greek University, since May 2012, is accredited to do measurements of electromagnetic fields at high and low frequencies. More specifically, the Laboratory of Medical Physics of AUTH accredited by ESYD according to ELOT EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard, and is able to perform electrical tests according to the following:
•Measurements near power transmission lines, near substation power systems and environment of the electrical installations.
•Measurements near antennas, radio and television stations, mobile base stations, base station of microwave wireless networks.
