Social distancing, uncertainty and anxiety about the future and the evolution of this pandemic are accompanied by adverse effects on psychosocial health. In this context, the formation of a "new routine" is considered very helpful, which will be characterized by the deployment of free time to engage in pleasant activities that promote the psychosocial and social well-being of the individuals. In the midst of this new reality and in the light of the endeavor of supporting the elderly and people belong in vulnerable groups, and encouraging the adoption of a new, productive and beneficial routine for them.
The Cognitive Training System BrainHQ is an interoperable component of the Integrated Health and Social Care System Long Lasting Memories Care - LLM Care. In particular, it comprises of an online interactive environment of specialized cognitive training through a set of exercises aiming at the effective improvement of memory, information processing speed, orientation, as well as speech, observation, behaviour, concentration and critical capacity. The ultimate goal of the program is to promote the exercises as an original and new stimulus which, through the integration in the weekly routine of the beneficiaries, will awaken and strengthen their cognitive functions, contributing to the improvement of their quality of life. In the context of social welfare, the AUTH Medical Physics Laboratory research staff invites the associating entities to actively participate and put the idea into practice, implementing this initiative in the network of their beneficiaries.
The Lab's researchers, members of the ASsistive TechnOlogies and Silver Science - ASOSS Group, take on the supervisory and advisory role, for the support of the entities, the whole coordination and the smooth conduction of this endeavour. The guide is addressed to the associating entities and organizations of the Ecosystem of the Integrated Health and Social Care System Long Lasting Memories Care - LLM Care and offers a series of guidelines and suggestions in order to facilitate:
- the effective implementation of this endeavour and support of beneficiaries during the period of utilization and interaction with the Cognitive Training Program at their homes
- the adaptation of the way the LLM Care intervention is conducted in associating entities’ infrastructures in accordance with the new data and measures that have occurred in the context of the pandemic
Taking into consideration the instructions provided by the National Public Health Organization and the Ministry of Health, in this guide a series of measures and actions is presented that associating entities are encouraged to implement aiming at the effective, smooth and safe implementation of the LLM Care program and protection of their beneficiaries, trainers and all direct and indirect partners.
